Turning Channel Data Into Revenue: Del Heles Joins Charles Alvarez on a Podcast - Blog & Tips

At Computer Market Research, we’ve been helping manufacturers make sense of channel data since 1984. Over the years, the tools have changed dramatically, but our mission has stayed the same: help companies turn raw information into insights that grow revenue, improve margins, and strengthen partner relationships.

Recently, our President & CEO, Del Heles, joined a podcast hosted by Charles Alvarez (CEO/Founder, Cornerstone Growth Solutions) to talk about how channel management has evolved, why accurate data matters more than ever, and what role AI will play in the future.

From Data Collection to Actionable Insights

“Information is great,” Del explained, “but if I give you data you can’t act on, what’s the point?”

That mindset has guided CMR for more than four decades. What started with collecting invoice-level distributor data in the 1980s has grown into a suite of tools that manufacturers rely on today, including:

  • Co-Op/MDF programs that fund partner marketing with measurable ROI.
  • Deal Registration and automated Ship & Debit processes that protect margins.
  • Volume Incentive Rebates and tiered growth programs.
  • Real-time reports like Open-to-Buy forecasts and New Reseller Alerts.
  • CRM integration with Salesforce and other systems so sales teams always know what their customers are buying.

Speed, Accuracy, and Trust

One of the biggest takeaways from the conversation: manufacturers simply don’t have visibility into what’s happening at the reseller and retail level. That’s where CMR steps in.

“If LG wants to know how many 42-inch monitors sold in San Francisco last week, they can find out instantly on our platform,” Del said. “That speed is their competitive advantage.”

Accuracy matters just as much. Del joked that if a sales rep misses a commission check because of bad data, “we hear about it right away.” With over 90% client retention and partnerships that last decades, our clients know they can trust the information they’re getting.

The Future of AI in Channel Management

The conversation also touched on artificial intelligence. While the hype is everywhere, Del made it clear that AI is not a magic solution:

“AI is powerful software, but it’s only as good as the data you feed it. Garbage in, garbage out. Our job is to provide trusted, accurate data so AI becomes truly useful.”

That’s why CMR continues to invest in making sure our clients’ data is clean, consistent, and actionable—so they can make better decisions today and be ready for what’s next.
